Catins and Ramblers and Old Time, Oh My!

Remember the photo-ops from the Catins Everywhere Gallery? Yup, that's Christine lounging in the red chair looking like a Geuydan goddess surrounded by her minions. We ate...we were merry. There was also an amazing group of musicians present--an impromptu jam happened with Joel Savoy, Chas Justus, Eric Frey, Dirk Powell, Richard Burgess, Jim Collier and Rafe Stefanini. But the story doesn't stop there.

One catin went home at ten, Who do you think that could have been?
One catin drove home at twelve, The other one alseep at two.
The tallest one, she jammed some more, And stayed upon her porch 'til four.

What is it with that name?
Great things happen over cups of too much hot coffee in the late afternoon. It's always a great time for winding up when you should be winding down--and if it's raining out you can surely brainstorm. We'd like to thank Dr. Shelli Haj-Broussard for discovering the name for our band. It is also a lyric from Amédée Ardoin's original Amadie Two-Step (click below to listen). Yes, we know that Catin is not a nice word in the rest of the Francophone world. But, here in Louisiana, it's a term of endearment. You'll here it all over Cajun music. So, here's to Shelli and Catins everywhere.

Tu t'en va à ta maison, toi, tu me quittes derrière.
